Ready To Take The Leap Of Faith?

So… how will you know when you are ready to take the Leap of Faith into private practice?  For some, it comes out of necessity — the need for autonomy, flexibility, or more money.  For others, it kind of evolves as a career in counseling progresses.

It is tough to really determine what it will take until you know what you want out of your private practice.  How can you make that decision until you know the end result (the private practice) will meet your requirements or desires.

So, it seems the first step might be to picture your ideal private practice.  What will it look like?  Where will it be?  What about it will benefit you?  What about it will benefit your clients?  Don’t be afraid to dream big.  After all, it is (and should be) your career dream come true!  Don’t settle.  This is your business — you get to paint it any way you like.

Once you get a great visual of what your private practice will be, picture yourself sitting in your office.  How do you feel?  What do you notice?  What are your thoughts?  Relish in every sensory detail.

Once you do this, it will be easier to stick to your goal.  Remember, it usually isn’t the goal itself that keeps us motivated.  It is the way we feel when we imagine living the goal that keeps us pushing forward.

How will you feel?  Liberated?  Powerful?  Peaceful?  Fulfilled?  Let those be your guide and let them help you to determine when you are ready to take your Leap of Faith!  You just may be ready sooner than you think 🙂
