What can a website do for your practice?

So… you’ve got a practice and you need clients.  Some of the first things you need include:  an address, a phone number, and a website address.  Then, and only then, you can get your business cards and brochures printed for distribution.

Influential Therapist reached out to TherapySites for some information that will help you build a website that not only gets your name out there, but also gets a reaction from your readers.  They were kind enough to offer a few Marketing Tips for us to share with you.

Here’s the first in the series…

On-Line Marketing Tip #1

Don’t have a website? You can’t play the game unless you get on the court.

Having a website is step number one for marketing your practice and attracting new clients.  A website is the business card of the 21st century, and not only is it far more effective in bringing you actual new business, it can also make managing your practice easier and more efficient!

An effective website gives your potential customers a crucial first impression of you and your practice, so it has to be professional, inviting and content rich. But not just any kind of content will work!

It must be the right content. It needs to convey how you can help your potential clients, the services you provide, your rates, and an easy way to schedule an appointment. Provide tools of convenience for your clients, right on your website, after all, who wants to waste time by filling out forms in an office? Post your intake forms on your website so that your clients can then fill them out in advance and bring them to their first appointment. Provide links and resources they can look into, so that your clients will be prepared before arriving in your office.

A professional and organized website builds confidence right out of the gate and creates a smooth experience for what might be a person’s first big step toward healing. So, if you don’t have one already, get yourself a website!

Leggecy Associates is redesigning my website with my input. I’ll get my Leggecy guru’s opinion on posting intake forms and links and resources. I thought it was not helpful to list fees on a website but to wait and discuss rates in person? If I list the insurance panels I am on, viewers of my website will know if I accept what their insurer pays for mental health services.

@Maureen — We know that you have a wonderful webmaster at Leggecy Enterprises (jimlegge@choiceonemail.com) — thanks for sharing!

I tend to agree about not posting fees online so you get the opportunity to speak to interested parties about what you have. Often times people are discouraged about calling if they don’t understand your fee schedule/how often you see folks/ and what value you have to offer for the fee. Good Point!

p.s. there are many options out there for clinicians to have a web presence. Whether you feel confident to do a site from scratch on your own, you hire a webmaster to help you create your ideal site, or you utilize an option like TherapySites — the important thing is that you do something to take your spot on the web!
